Managed security solution provider AVG Technologies (AVG) launched AVG Business Managed Workplace 9.2 this week, which adds an integrated Premium Remote Control capability into its remote monitoring and management platform.

The Premium Remote Control feature is the result of AVG’s partnership with remote assistance and maintenance software provider ISL Online. AVG’s Vice President of the Americas Marco LaVecchia said the remote control is fully integrated into the Workplace 9.2 dashboard, making it easier for channel partners to administer remote IT management services within their existing deployments.

“We feel that this is a real game changer for us and also for the industry,” said LaVecchia, in an interview with MSPmentor. “Remote control is always a pain point for our service providers, and the fact that our customers can now leverage a premium tier one offering and solution for their customers gives them the ability to not only do remote control but … those types of functionalities that they need on a daily basis that we find is going to give them a significant advantage in the industry.”

The AVG Business Premium Remote Control is included for free with the latest version of Managed Workplace 9.2, and is compatible across all Windows and Mac OSX managed devices, according to the announcement. Managed Workplace is available now for all current AVG subscribers.

Additional features included in Managed Workplace 9.2 include an integrated backup and disaster recovery solution that provides MSPs with a centrally managed way to utilize Infrascale Backup and Disaster Recovery Solutions. AVG has also added a device manager for Mac OSX customers as well as several baked-in AVG AntiVirus solutions, including the ability for MSPs to password protect their endpoints to stop tampering or modification by end users.

“AVG is dedicated to the success of our channel partners, and their product feedback is critical for helping us deliver the best experience possible,” said Francois Daumard, vice president of Global Channel Sales for AVG Business, in a statement. “Today’s debut of our enhanced Managed Workplace platform is one example of how we are listening and responding to channel needs and continuing to help MSPs achieve their business goals.”
