As business leaders evolve remote work policies through the next “new normal” phase of the COVID-19, IT leaders are making key networking and cloud investments to maintain long-term business continuity and remote work life.
World Wide Technology (WWT), the $12 billion solution provider, is working with enterprises large and small to advance software, wireless and network technologies for this next phase and can share insights on what companies need to be doing behind the scenes to keep their businesses running successfully during COVID-19.
Trends related to an increased demand for SD-WAN and shifts in multicloud strategy as a result of COVID-19.
According to Neil Anderson, senior director, network solutions at WWT, SD-WAN can play a role in working from home to optimize user experience and remotely accessing applications.
“We also see organizations examining their multicloud strategies – particularly understanding where their users are working and where applications are hosted they are using,” said Anderson. “We see shifts occurring to leverage cloud delivered applications significantly more – as it makes it much easier for IT to shift users from work locations to remote working locations.”
Insights on what companies need to be doing behind the scenes to keep their business running successfully during COVID-19:
The most successful organizations right now are those that have the flexibility to quickly pivot business models to contact-free models, WWT notes. Those that are investing in cloud, digital transformation and mobile are having the most success.
The first phase of business continuity was to make anything work, much of which was already on-hand or could be quickly acquired. Now the company sees organizations stepping back to consider more permanent solutions that have better user experience and security.
“We would recommend looking at cloud-delivered models – applications, collaboration, and security.” said Anderson. “These models offer the best business agility that can operate independently of location and scaled up quickly when needed.”
ESET just enhanced its partner program for managed service providers (MSPs) to include new enterprise security offerings, incentives, training and an updated marketing center. Key updates to the program include:
Health Check: This new VIP inspection service provides a creative resource for MSPs to drive loyalty and support their SMB and enterprise customers during a crisis. The comprehensive service also empowers MSPs with upsell opportunities when supporting organizations that require a different toolbox of IT security products to support their newly distributed workforce.
New Licensing Portal with Encryption/Authentication Offerings: Supported by a new licensing portal, MSPs can now offer their customers a broader range of security products, including ESET’s Secure Authentication, Full Disk Encryption and Dynamic Threat Defense products.
Cybersecurity Awareness Training: An organization’s cybersecurity posture is only as strong as its weakest link. MSPs are now able to offer ESET cybersecurity awareness training to their SMB and enterprise customers.
Marketing Center: ESET has updated its Marketing Center for MSPs. Recognizing that this growing partner base needed a different set of individualized training, tools and content, ESET has created resources and engaging campaigns dedicated to MSPs that empower them to sell more – including a remote workforce campaign that was launched in response to COVID-19. The updated Marketing Center includes customizable co-branded materials, new landing pages, drip campaigns, social media resources and more.
This massive shift to remote work due to COVID-19 has made it difficult for MSPs and IT pros to manage assets and configurations while workers are no longer onsite.
To combat this issue, RapidFire Tools (a Kaseya company), just introduced its Network Detective Microsoft Cloud Assessment Module.
RapidFire Tools’ Network Detective Solution module provides IT pros with the critical visibility and control over their virtual computing environments needed during these uncertain times. Among other features, the Microsoft Cloud Assessment Module will produce a detailed Risk Report and Management Plan Report, as well as assessment reports for each of the core Microsoft 365 applications. It will also tap into Microsoft’s security scoring system to expose areas of highest risks and vulnerability.
As the cloud computing market continues to grow and companies become more dependent on cloud applications, secure visibility has become a top priority.
Module details include:
Automated and detailed Client Risk and Management Plan Reports, as well as separate assessment reports for each of the core Microsoft 365 applications: SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and Outlook Mail.
The ability to create a powerful Microsoft Cloud Security Report that MSPs can use to build an incremental managed cloud security service offering.
Continuous module updates as Microsoft continues to build out its APIs to allow expanded access into its cloud environment and provide IT professionals with even more insights through expanded reports.
Datto just announced the availability of the next version of Datto SaaS Protection. According to Datto’s 2020 Global State of the MSP Report, respondents said that 62% of their clients are currently using Microsoft365 cloud services and they expect that 70% will be using them within two years.
Key Datto SaaS Protection updates include:
Streamlined Client Onboarding: Protect clients’ critical cloud data in a matter of minutes with a simplified setup and an easy click-through onboarding process.
Flexible Retention: Users choose between settings that allow for infinite cloud retention as well as time-based retention to provide flexibility in meeting the individual needs of each end client.
Intuitive, User-Friendly Management Portal: Quickly and easily determine the number of licenses in use, gauge profitability, and view clients’ backup status all from a single view.
Pax8 just announced a new partnership with Cymulate, the only end-to-end SaaS-based Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) platform for Continuous Security Validation.
“Cymulate enables partners to test their security products against the latest threats, which is now more important than ever,” said Ryan Walsh, chief channel officer at Pax8. “The aftermath of a ransomware attack can have a dire impact on a business, and we are constantly vetting new solutions to help our partners combat these cybercriminals, preferably in advance. Cymulate will enable our partners to stay one step ahead by identifying security gaps and determining the priority of which to close first.”
Through Pax8, partners have access to a unique Cymulate bundle tailored to meet the SMB market demands. The Cymulate platform, available to Pax8 partners in North America, offers the ability to protect customers before threats ever show up. It tests the strength of the partner’s security by simulating real cyberattacks across the entire full kill chain and based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework. Through the Cymulate platform threat simulations, partners can identify gaps to evaluate the effectiveness of their security controls, and get a risk score that provides a clear report with up-to-the-moment details regarding their security posture, and actionable mitigation recommendations.
