LogMeIn AppGuru Enables App Discovery, Management in BYOA Era
LogMeIn (LOGM) today introduced AppGuru, a cloud application that enables managed service providers (MSPs) to discover what apps are being used on a customer's network, by whom and on which devices. The tool then enables management of those apps.
LogMeIn (LOGM) today unveiled AppGuru, a cloud application that is designed to help IT professionals discover, secure and manage employee-introduced apps. AppGuru enables IT service providers to discover what apps are being used on a company network, who is using them and on which devices.
LogMeIn said AppGuru supports hundreds of apps, including Box, Google (GOOG) Apps and Microsoft (MSFT) Office 365, and can help IT professionals better manage their bring-your-own-application (BYOA) policies.
AppGuru’s features include:
1. Discovery and monitoring capabilities – AppGuru offers a company-wide application usage dashboard and snapshots and real-time cloud app activity monitoring.
2. Centralized management – AppGuru provides IT professionals with a single pane of glass that allows them to centrally manage all cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications – and app users – in an environment.
3. Multi-account management – Managed service providers (MSPs) can use AppGuru to support multiple customers simultaneously.
The tool from LogMeIn was created by writing to the APIs of dozens of popular apps. AppGuru enables a company’s existing security rules to be applied to the apps that are managed.
“For our small and medium-sized business (SMB) IT customer base, ‘shadow IT’ and BYOA are forcing them to rethink the ways they approach device, application and data management. When you consider the fact that the majority of cloud apps are being used without the knowledge of IT, we see this trend as one of the most significant challenges facing IT today,” LogMeIn CEO Michael Simon said in a prepared statement. “Our goal with AppGuru is to give our IT customers complete visibility into and control over their environment in ways that embrace the inherent realities of employee-introduced technology.”
AppGuru is available immediately, and pricing starts at $29 per managed user per year.
A free trial of AppGuru is available for download here.
MSPs also can learn more about BYOA during an MSPmentor webcast featuring LogMeIn tomorrow at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET. Register for the webcast here.
