Avnet HealthPath Solutions Adds Lincor Systems to Linecard

Avnet Technology Solutions is teaming up with Lincor Solutions to give VARs access to point-of-care and entertainment systems aimed at the healthcare marketplace. With health care remaining a profitable vertical, solutions for electronic medical records, bedside access, and even patient entertainment are potential gold mines for VARs when working with a hospital. Here’s the scoop on the new offerings from Avnet …

Avnet has now become the “high-value specialty distributor” for Lincor Solutions, whose point-of-care clinical access and MEDIVista entertainment systems are available under this agreement. Ireland-based Lincor is looking to penetrate new markets in the United States, and Avnet views the agreement as a boon to its HealthPath SolutionPath practice. Integration services from Avnet for the MEDIVista technology will also be available for qualified VARs working inside Avnet’s distribution channel.

For the uninitiated, HealthPath is Avnet’s technology channel that specifically targets the needs of hospitals, managed care facilities and even small clinical offices. It also helps VARs specialize in the needs of these business and develop strategies for the complexities of this industry.

The MEDIVista interface can call up electronic health records, clinical applications and even language translation services. Patients can get at educational information, meal management and other features like Internet, movies on-demand, television, webcam features and other telephony technology. Lincor’s technology is designed to be integrated and ubiquitous, replacing the less-effective method of shuffling computers room to room. Plus, the interface doubles as patient entertainment, allowing for some decent value-add sell-in.

The one-stop futuristic hub is also being billed as ‘expandable,’ but no further explanation was given. Screen shots of Lincor’s MEDIVista show the systems run and/or link to Windows, so upgradability and computability should be somewhat straightforward.
