Can The Apple Store Save The VAR Guy Again?

When The VAR Guy attempted to boot up his MacBook Pro this morning, nothing happened. No Mac OS X desktop. No applications. Just blank blue screen. This is the third time in three years that our resident blogger has had a serious Mac issue. Twice before The Apple Store saved The VAR Guy's day. But can The Apple Store come through again? Can The Apple Store Save The VAR Guy Again?

Apple Genius Bar

When The VAR Guy attempted to boot up his MacBook Pro this morning, nothing happened. No Mac OS X desktop. No applications. Just blank blue screen. This is the third time in three years that our resident blogger has had a serious Mac issue. Twice before The Apple Store saved The VAR Guy’s day. But can The Apple Store come through again? Here are some thoughts.

The VAR Guy is confirmed to visit the Apple Genius Bar today at 12:20 p.m. eastern. Hopefully, those geniuses live up to their titles because The VAR Guy has some pretty darn important data on his hard drive. Thankfully, most of that data is backed up. But some recent business video edits could be at risk…

Still, The VAR Guy isn’t ready to panic. Generally speaking, the Apple Store and the Genius Bar concept deliver peace of mind to our resident blogger.

A few years ago, The VAR Guy depended on big retail chains like Best Buy to service his PCs. But the customer experience was pretty darn stressful — especially when so many fixes required The VAR Guy’s PCs to be “sent out” for repair. Alas, the PC industry has yet to mimic the Apple Store and Genius Bar model.

Or has it? If you’ve found a PC-centric support model that rivals the Apple Store Genius Bar in terms of quality and customer experience please let The VAR Guy know. With a little more peace of mind, The VAR Guy would be willing to buy a Windows 7 PC. In the meantime, our resident blogger is returning to The Genius Bar. Again.
