HTG Assists Managed Service Provider Hit By Missouri Tornado
For the third time in recent weeks, HTG Peer Groups is assisting a managed services provider (MSP) facing a personal or business crisis. The latest example involves HTG’s Hands That Give organization helping an MSP that lost its entire office during a recent Missouri tornado.
The HTG organization includes dozens of VARs and MSPs representing North America, Europe and Australia. Group members meet quarterly to discuss business, financial and personal priorities. During a recent quarterly meeting in Dallas, HTG Founder Arlin Sorensen unveiled the Hands That Give program. It’s somewhat akin to the American Red Cross for HTG members… combining an insurance policy with volunteers who assist member VARs and MSPs during times of personal or professional crisis.
Red Alert
Among the MSPs in need: SNC Squared, which lost its corporate office during the recent tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri. According to an email from Sorensen, the HTG team has “mobilized and began hosting [SNC’s] email and some virtualized servers. There are a couple of [HTG] members on the road toward the city” to assist the SNC team.
A quick check of SNC’s website states: “Attention SNC2 Customers: We are up! Despite the disaster in Joplin, SNC2 is online and all of our clients data is now available to them.” Keeping SNC’s business online may sound remarkable. But as part of the Hands That Give program and HTG membership, SNC Squared has to have a fully tested business continuity and disaster recovery plan in place.
Also of note: HTG promotes life-work balance to its members. And in his email to the HTG community, Sorensen noted the personal devastation caused by the Missouri tornadoes. At the time of his email, Sorensen wrote, 89 people in the area had lost their lives.
