VMware Teams with Cloud Credential Council for Global Certification

Cloud certification programs are slowly becoming more common, and with VMware‘s (VMW) help, the certification courses offered by the Cloud Credential Council (CCC) will expand in geographic presence. The virtualization company just struck a partnership with the CCC for a global expansion that will make the courses and exams available in more nations over time.

The CCC releases its cloud certification courses earlier this year in the Americas, and it’s now expanding to Australia and New Zealand. Chances are, the global expansion will continue and the courses will likely be available in also countries as time goes on, but I’d be willing to bet further announcements will be made before the end of the year.

Especiallly now, with the cloud computing skills gap growing, certifications and training programs—as well as the appropriate marketing and encouragement of potential students—is increasingly becoming important.

“With the CCC-VMware linkage, we are helping businesses transform with cloud successfully by addressing the cloud skills gap in the market. There is a need for both technology-neutral and technology-specific skills, and the CCC offering complements the VMware offering exceptionally well,” said Eva Bishop, vice president of Global Education Sales and Delivery at VMware, in a prepared statement.

There is a nice balance of vendor-netural and vendor-specific cloud certifications now on the market. Although technology vendors offer their own technology-specific certifications, organizations like the CCC and CompTIA have taken to providing the fundamentals necessary to handle the general technologies and policies that govern the building and maintenance of cloud platforms and services of all kinds.

The CCC currently offers training and certifications in Solutions Architect, Developer, Administrator, Security/Governance and Service Manager. It is also expanding its courses to include Cloud Forensics for law enforcement professionals and Big Data & Cloud, as well as “other important areas.”
