Cloud provider 8×8 Inc. now is an official contractor for the General Services Administration and NASA, which could produce interesting opportunities for the company’s channel partners selling cloud services to government agencies.

Indeed, the Obama Administration has implemented a policy called "CloudFirst" that aims to get all public-sector organizations into the cloud.

And now, thanks to a partnership with immixGroup Inc., a company that helps tech firms do business with the U.S. government, 8×8 has extended its reach past the enterprise. The California-based provider has received approval to sell VoIP PBXs, contact center, SIP trunking, unified communications and cloud hosted on the Schedule 70 and NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement contracts. Plus, the 8×8 VoIP services come with Polycom IP phones and Phybridge power-over-Ethernet gear.

GSA Schedule 70 is the main vehicle the federal government uses to procure a variety of products and services from more than 5,000 industry partners. The NASA counterpart focuses on IT products for all federal agencies, including the Department of Defense.
