Cloud provider 8×8 Inc. has added two wireless telephony devices the Polycom KIRK KWS300 Wireless Base Unit and KIRK 5020 Cordless IP Phone and a related cordless service to its portfolio for companies whose workers need to be mobile around their campuses.
“Businesses are always looking for new ways to provide their employees with cost effective, cutting-edge tools that will help them better perform their daily tasks,” Debbie Jo Severin, 8×8’s chief marketing officer, said in a press release. The new 8×8 offering takes away the frustration of not being able to reach employees when they’re not at their desks, she added.
The product set is built on the DECT standard; the cordless service lets users transfer a live call from their desk phones to their cordless handsets, and vice versa. Each KWS300 base supports up to 12 KIRK 5020 handsets, with a maximum of 4 concurrent calls per base. The platform uses a SIP interface to 8×8’s virtual PBX and supports Power-over-Ethernet. Each handset works for up to 100 hundred feet from a base station.
The 8×8 KIRK wireless system is available now. 8×8 sells through agents and VARs.
