The Client. Adept Technology Inc., founded in 1983, manufactures industrial robots that help customers achieve precision, quality and productivity in their assembly, handling and packaging processes. Adept runs seven locations — three in the United States and one each in Singapore, Denmark, Germany and France.

The Challenge. Adept was operating on a peer-to-peer VPN and managing multiple network providers at each of its facilities. The problem was, employees needed seamless connectivity for their email, Intranet and collaboration applications. The existing network structure also was not easily scalable, nor did it support least-cost routing for calls or high-performance video. Adept also was aware that it needed a network service provider that would oversee network management.

The Solution. Adept turned to its channel partner, Bridgepointe Technologies, for help identifying a global network services provider to meet its needs. Bridgepointe is an Internet and telecommunication service brokerage house. After lengthy research, Bridgepoint’s sales and operations team recommended Masergy as the best supplier for Adept, and Adept agreed. Thus, the implementation process began. Bridgepoint and Masergy decided a phased deployment would be best, to avoid service disruptions and ensure a smooth transition. Masergy now serves as Adept’s primary provider throughout each of its worldwide locations. Adept opted for Masergy’s VPLS network, which uses Ethernet connectivity, for security and global scalability, as well as the intelligent network analyst feature that provides real-time monitoring and control.

The Result. Adept now experiences stable network connections among its facilities, even when adding sites to its network. Plus, the robotics manufacturer no longer manages training, support or performance oversight — Masergy does all of that. And as a result of Masergy’s network reliability, Adept plans to add video conferencing and Microsoft Lync VoIP to its WAN capabilities. Overall, Adept has seen the following results from its alliance with Masergy:

  • Local consulting expertise for customized network solutions

  • Reliable network platform

  • Cost savings

  • Scalable bandwidth for real-time changes and future expansion

  • Increased productivity through network efficiency and no downtime

  • Customer service with round-the-clock monitoring and technical support
