Cisco Systems on Tuesday debuted cloud-enabled routing and WAN optimization platforms under the Cisco Cloud Connected Solution brand.

Here’s what comprises Cisco Cloud Connected Solution:

  • Cloud Connectors: Open-architecture software that embeds into the Integrated Services Router (ISR) G2, and works with services for improving the performance, security and availability of cloud applications. Channel partners and service providers also may develop third-party Cloud Connectors to offer differentiated services.

  • Cloud-enabled platforms: The new virtual Cisco Cloud Services Router lets customers extend their VPNs into the cloud. Cisco also is expanding the Aggregation Services Router (ASR) platform with the Cisco ASR 1002-X router, and introducing the Cisco UCS E-Series Server Modules on the ISR G2. This will deliver hosted services to remote and branch offices.

  • Cloud services: New capabilities have been added to existing routing and WAN optimization platforms to better support cloud computing. For example, the new Cisco Application Visibility and Control technology is integrated into the Cisco ISR and ASR platforms for delivery and troubleshooting of cloud applications on the network, along with the Cisco UCS E-Series Server Modules on the ISR G2. New Cisco AppNav technology clusters Cisco’s Wide Area Application Services physical and virtual appliances into one resource pool managed by a central controller.

Cisco Cloud Connected Solution is part of the Cisco Cloud Intelligent Network.
