Comcast Corp. announced that its Comcast Business Services unit has rolled out Business VoiceEdge, a cloud-based voice and unified communications solution, in California. The service is now offered across 20 states in Comcast’s network, with availability in additional Comcast markets to be completed by the end of 2012.

Business VoiceEdge is expected to be available for sale through Comcast Business Services sales partners in first quarter 2013, said Craig Schlagbaum, vice president of sales indirect channels for Comcast Business Services. "There are a number of operational hurdles we need to address for our channel first prior to launching," he told Channel Partners.

Comcast Business VoiceEdge is a subscription service delivered and managed over the Comcast network, eliminating the need for on-site PBX equipment or key systems. It also provides UC features and high-definition voice quality.

In California, the service will be available throughout Northern and Central California including San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Fresno, Monterey and Stockton.

Comcast Business also offers Business Class Voice, a voice line service designed for small businesses, and Business Class Trunks, an intelligent phone service for larger organizations that works with existing PBX equipment and provides scalability and security using Comcast’s advanced IP network.
