AT&T Wholesale (Booth 500) announced at COMPTEL PLUS it now offers lower bandwidth speeds with its expandable OPT-E-MAN product offering in its 13-state ILEC territory (former SBC Communications territory).

Customers now may choose mid-band Ethernet selections of 2mbps, 4mbps and 8mbps in addition to the 5mbps, 10mbps and 20mbps originally offered. This product enhancement makes OPT-E-MAN service consistent with AT&T’s Metro Ethernet product, which provides the same range of bandwidth speeds. The metro Ethernet product is available in the former BellSouth nine-state territory.

OPT-E-MAN is a switched optical Ethernet Metropolitan Area Network ser-vice that uses MPLS to transport customers’ data within a metro area. OPT-E-MAN service supports end-to-end Ethernet transport for point-to-point, multipoint and point-to-multipoint configurations. Using both physical and virtual connections, OPT-E-MAN provides flexible bandwidth options — from 2mbps to 1gbps — to meet a wide range of Ethernet band-width requirements.
