Omnitron Systems Technology (Booth 909) has made enhancements to its iConverter T1/E1 and T3/E3 media converters.

That includes support for Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceivers, which enable the media converters to adapt to different fiber types and distances, and incorporate CWDM technology to increase the capacity of fiber infrastructure by 18 times. The enhancements also entail the in-troduction of a new standalone version with universal AC power or field-wireable DC connectors for easy installation and deployment.

A built-in fiber tester, meanwhile, reduces operating costs by provid-ing diagnosis of the remote unit without requiring external hardware or support personnel at each end of the link.

The T1 and T3 converters can be used with CWDM transceivers to share the fiber with other data streams. SFPs also provide flexibility and minimize stocking requirements. The same media converter can utilize a variety of SPFs for different wavelengths and distances, reducing capex and simplifying inventories.

The iConverter T1/E1 and T3/E3 media converters can be managed using Omnitrons NetOutlook SNMP management software, or third-party SNMP-based management software.
