Global Capacity Adds TelePacific, tw telecom Vet as CTO

Connectivity provider Global Capacity is bringing on a longtime telecom vet to lead its automated networking platform.
The company announced Tuesday that Tony Thakur will serve as chief technology officer and head up One Marketplace.
Having most recently served as TelePacific’s vice president of engineering and technology, Global Capacity President Jack Lodge said Thakur has a strong resúmé of working with advanced telecommunications networks and technologies.
“His track record will be invaluable as we continue to invest in our next-generation network services, expand our Ethernet architecture and deliver cloud-enabling services and technologies,” Lodge said.
Thakur has worked in the industry for more than 25 years, including stints at tw telecom and CENX. He said Global Capacity is expanding its network footprint and “disrupting the status quo of legacy networks.”{ad}
“I look forward to playing a transformative role of evolving a first-rate network and delivering telecommunications services and solutions that empower network, application, cloud service providers and business customers,” he said.
Global Capacity has expanded its One Marketplace platform this year, adding a 72-mile fiber ring in California.
The company also recently hired Rob Olson as its vice president of channel sales and Patrick Hannon as its chief revenue officer.
