Level 3 Communications Inc. and Equinix, through its Cloud Exchange, are giving enterprises global access to a range of cloud services.

Equinix is an interconnection and data center company. Level 3 now integrates its Cloud Connect Solutions ecosystem with the Equinix Cloud Exchange, reaching 80 Equinix data centers around the world.

That means end users such as enterprises and government agencies may use a community of cloud service providers such as GoGrid, among others, and manage their business applications. All of this is done over a secure, private network, but customers may deploy hybrid services as a result.

Benefits of the partnership include:

  • Improved performance – customers can deliver applications over Level 3’s private network with guaranteed throughput, low latency, custom solutions and up to four times the network performance of public networks;

  • Enhanced security – Level 3’s private network connections to the Equinix Cloud Exchange are physically isolated from the Internet, and its security services are designed to enhance protection of IT environments

  • Greater efficiencies – Level 3 customers can scale their services and only pay for what they use with its VPN services connecting to the Equinix Cloud Exchange.
