PAETEC Breaks 200Mbps with EoC Network

Meeting the need for speed, PAETEC says it has successfully provisioned high-rate Ethernet services in excess of 200 megabits per second (Mbps) via its advanced Ethernet-over-Copper (EoC) network. That doubles the 100Mbps the company announced in May.

EoC uses multiple-bonded copper pairs in the same conduit to reach businesses where fiber-optic facilities are either unavailable or are too expensive. Advances in technology have allowed both increases in data speeds and distances from the aggregation equipment when using traditional copper wires, making solutions like EoC more attractive options for businesses.

By leveraging the latest EoC advancements, were able to meet increasing customer demand for robust bandwidth volumes at a fraction of the cost of other media.”

PAETECs footprint covers business customers in 86 of the 100 top U.S. metropolitan areas. The company leverages a large integrated EoC, fiber and fixed wireless network to offer an array of retail and wholesale Ethernet solutions ranging in speeds from 1 Mbps to 10 Gbps.

PAETECs EoC network uses Overture Networks Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation solutions.

Windstream announced last month that it plans to acquire PAETEC for $2.3 billion, which includes assuming $1.4 billion in PAETEC debt.
