Sprint Nextel Brings 4G to San Francisco Bay Area

Sprints fast mobile broadband service is now available in 71 U.S. markets.

Sprint on Tuesday announced launching its 4G mobile broadband service in the San Francisco Bay Area. The service initially will be available in San Francisco, San Jose, Palo Alto and Oakland.

Sprint said its 4G service, which is up to 10 times faster than 3G and enables such capabilities as mobile downloads and wireless video chat, is now available in 71 markets across the United States. Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City are among the cities where Sprint offers 4G.

Sprint first launched 4G service in Baltimore in September 2008.
