WBS Connect (Booth 617), a Colorado-based IP transit wholesaler, announced it is preparing to offer boutique-style metro Ethernet packages through its affiliate WBS Direct. WBS Direct will offer 10mbps metro Ethernet connections, with scaling of bandwidth needs up to 100mbps, to more than 25,000 lit buildings in the United States.

WBS Direct offers network consulting and VoIP services, plus a suite of security capabilities using Fortinets FortiGate systems. With FortiGate, WBS Direct provides best-in-class security protections in a single platform-spanning firewall, VPN, antivirus, intrusion detection and prevention, Web filtering, antispam, antispyware and traffic-shaping functionality.

Its no secret that the demands of bandwidth-heavy Web applications, such as video and remote access, have placed a burden on medium-sized businesses, greatly outpacing current T1 speeds and taxing overall system reliability, said Scott Charter, cofounder and managing partner of WBS Connect and WBS Direct. WBS Direct erases these concerns by offering the ultimate in intra-office and dedicated Internet access, plus product flexibility and the best business guarantees in the industry all this without the lagging service and strict contracts associated with traditional Internet providers.
