Windstream Corp. is enforcing its three-year board chairman and committee chairman rotation requirements by appointing new leaders.
On May 1, Jeffrey Hinson will take over as chairman of the board, succeeding Dennis Foster, who has served as chairman since 2010. Foster will remain on the board and serve on the compensation committee. Windstream keeps its CEO and board chairman positions separate and rotates its top board positions every three years. Hinson has served as a Windstream director since 2006, when Windstream was formed out of the former Alltel, NuVox and other companies.
Meanwhile, also on May 1, Francis “Skip” Frantz will become chairman of the audit committee, the position Hinson held since 2010. Hinson will no longer sit on the audit committee. Windstream’s other board leadership positions remain the same.
In other Windstream news, the provider has expanded its carrier switched Ethernet service availability. The company now can meet increasing demand from other carriers for Ethernet and higher bandwidth, Windstream said, offering connectivity within its entire footprint through existing interconnection deals. The increased coverage particularly affects major metro areas including Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, New York, Philadelphia and Phoenix.
“Our customers now have a broader ability to reach businesses with dependable Ethernet access,” said Don Perkins, senior vice president of business marketing for Windstream.
