Capitalizing on the growing demand for cloud and managed services, Windstream Hosted Solutions announced it has opened its second enterprise-class data center in Virginia. The new location in McLean joins an existing Windstream data center in Richmond.

More than 200 people  customers, prospects and Windstream executives  attended the grand opening of the 65,000-square-foot facility last week.

Windstream also operates data centers in Andover and Boston, Mass; Bethlehem, Conshohocken, Ephrata and State College, Pa.; Charlotte (Metro and two in uptown), Cary and Raleigh, N.C.; Nashville; Atlanta; Jacksonville and Tampa, Fla.; Little Rock, Ark.; Milwaukee and Brookfield, Wis.; Newton, Iowa; Houston (two); and Phoenix.

Like Windsteam’s other data centers, the McLean facility is designed with 2N power distribution and parallel multimodule uninterruptable power supplies (UPS) to ensure customers have access to their servers, applications, and data at all times. The facility has 45,000 square foot of raised floor, secured customer cages and cabinets available, and an on-site Network Operations Center (NOC).

Windstream Hosted Solutions offers colocation, dedicated server, managed services, cloud computing and disaster recovery solutions.

In addition to data centers, the $6 billion carrier provides network communications, including cloud computing and managed services, to businesses nationwide. The company also offers broadband, phone and digital TV services to consumers primarily in rural areas.
