Windstream Restores Service After Outage Plagues 4 States

Windstream service outages were restored Wednesday after troubling police departments, organizations and businesses in four different states.

The outage caused problems with blocked calls throughout the day in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin, but  according to WNEM.com, the company was able to restore services by 3:30 p.m.

Windstream, a company based in Little Rock, Ark., provides phone and data service for about 3.1 million customers nationwide. Company spokesman Larry White said in an article by Detroit Free Press that Windstream is unsure how many of those customers were affected.

He also said that three separate situations caused the outages. First, a construction crew in Milwaukee accidentally cut a cable that transports data, and the team had issues with repairs because of the weather. Also, a cable was cut near Greencastle, Ind., and finally, a computer card failed in Fishers, Ind., causing further problems.

The article also stated that among the largest local entities affected, all 4,000 local office lines for Oakland County, Mich., were down during this service outage.
