XO Communications has bolstered its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) by joining the cloud provider’s partner network.

The announcement holds a couple of implications.

First, XO already was part of AWS Direct Connect. Now, as a member of Amazon Partner Network (APN), too, the company may offer its Ethernet and WAN services to enterprises using AWS Direct Connect.

But VARs, systems integrators, agencies and other partners who work with both XO and AWS also benefit from XO’s deeper involvement with Amazon. They may sell both company’s services to their customers.

To that point, XO is offering connectivity options of 1Gbps and 10Gbps to connect businesses’ data center, colo facilities or main offices to AWS Direct Connect locations in the United States. The approach uses a private circuit rather than the public Internet, eliminating latency and the costs associated with delays.
