Zayo Completes Low Latency Route Between Chicago and Seattle

Zayo Group announced that it is accepting customer orders on its low latency fiber network service between Seattle and Chicago. The company believes that the system being deployed along the route a native 100G per wavelength with capability to support a total of 8 terabytes will offer the lowest latency currently available between Seattle and Chicago.

The route offers connectivity from Seattle’s 2001 W. Sixth (Westin Building) to Chicago’s 600 S. Federal St. in the city’s financial district. Zayo cites the route as being a valuable asset for the company, because it is a critical link between the U.S. and Asian financial markets.

Zayo points out that many of the Trans-Pacific fiber cables from Asia land in Mukilteo, Wash., just outside of Seattle. In addition, there is a high concentration of data centers in the Pacific Northwest, particularly North Central Oregon and South Central Washington, which could also benefit from the reduced latency to central and eastern U.S. cities on Zayo’s new route.
