Which of this year's cloud security releases have had the greatest impact on cloud services providers (CSPs)? Here's a closer look at seven of the biggest cloud security releases of 2015 (so far).
Bracket Computing last month unveiled the Bracket Security Fabric, a set of tools for encryption, authentication and management of enterprise assets on the public cloud. The company said this release adds a security layer to its virtualized system, encrypting entire workloads backed by automated key management and pre-boot authentication to provide confidentiality, integrity and authenticity of data.
Proofpoint (PFPT) is allowing Threat Response users to leverage incident management lifecycle technology to mitigate and prevent cyber attacks.The Sunnyvale, California-based security-as-a-service (SECaaS) provider in January updated Threat Response, its threat management platform, and noted that users can now integrate alerts across security solutions from Proofpoint, FireEye (FEYE), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Splunk (SPLK) and other vendors "to investigate, verify, prioritize and contain today's advanced threats."
Cloud and application security provider Soha Systems in April unveiled Soha Cloud, a cloud security service that eliminates the need to remotely manage multiple distributed instances of firewalls. In addition, Soha Systems noted that this service takes only a few minutes to configure and can be deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Platform, VMware vSphere, VMware vCloudAir or any OpenStack-compatible cloud environment.
Cloud security compliance (CSC) company Cloud Raxak in April launched Cloud Raxak Protect, a cloud-based service that enables users to "secure and ensure compliance of their compute infrastructures, starting with their environment provisioning process and through the lifecycle, for both public and private clouds." This release provides hybrid cloud service management for businesses, according to Cloud Raxak.
In April, Skyhigh Networks unveiled its Security Intelligence Platform for Sanctioned Cloud Services that gives customers the ability to detect and respond to security, compliance and data governance policy violations using a single platform. Skyhigh said the platform is designed to help companies protect their data across both shadow and sanctioned cloud services.
AWS in January unveiled new encryption capabilities for its Relational Database Service (RDS). The company said the RDS updates could make it easier for customers to encrypt data at rest on AWS RDS database instances running MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle Database.
In April, Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) announced a partnership with cloud access security broker Adallom to incorporate cloud security monitoring, governance and control capabilities into its portfolio. The Palo Alto, California-based technology giant also unveiled a cloud access security platform to complement its HP Atalla offerings.
