A10 Networks says its newest acquisition helps it lead the charge in delivering agile infrastructure.

A10 Networks' Kirsten YoungThe application networking and security provider says it is buying Appcito, the SaaS-based application delivery controller (ADC) provider.  A10 executives say the cloud-native Appcito will fit well within the A10 Harmony solution architecture.

“Appcito fits seamlessly into A10, and it will help our customers become even more agile as they bridge traditional and cloud application environments,” said Kirsten Young, the company’s vice president of worldwide channels.

Young said the purchase of Appcito fits into A10’s vision of managing secure application services in a more holistic fashion.

“Our acquisition of Appcito has accelerated our ability to solve this growing challenge,” she said.

With the Appcito buy, A10 is forming a new cloud business unit, led by former Appcito CEO Kamal Anand. He led the venture-funded Silicon Valley startup since its inception in 2013.{ad}

A10 Networks' Kamal AnandHe says there is a growing “movement” that is pushing for agility throughout various infrastructure environments. And that movement doesn’t just value a cloud native.

“Our whole vision is to bridge these two worlds, because we fundamentally believe there will be workloads that will continue to live on-premise[s] and there will be workloads that are optimized for the cloud,” he said.

A10 has not yet announced the actual solution that will result from the acquisition of Appcito, but Anand says it will come later in the year. There will be three major components: cloud services delivery; centralized management and analytics; and ecosystem and partnerships.

“With this combination, A10 now has the richest portfolio in the ADC market, not only to address the traditional applications or traditional infrastructure, but to address the other extreme – cloud-native applications both on public and private cloud,” he said.

A10’s Affinity Global Partner Program touts efficient processes to make it easier to do business; creative, demand-generating campaigns; world-class sales, marketing, training and technical support; and the ability to respond quickly to partner needs and reward results.
