Data protection provider Acronis this week announced the availability of its True Image for Mac, the company’s full system image backup solution with dual protection for Mac computers. According to the company, the new solution is the first of its kind to offer MacBook users complete protection away from their locally attached storage. The solution also marks the first time that Acronis has extended its backup and recovery services to Apple (APPL) Mac environments.
With dual protection for their Mac operating systems, Acronis is promising to give users the ability to back up and store their data both locally and in the Acronis cloud, so there are redundant saves in case their local storage is damaged or stolen. True Image for Mac creates a complete copy of the user’s entire system, applications, user data and settings, saved locally and remotely in the cloud. The company is touting the system’s exclusive ability to back up and restore a Parallels Desktop virtual machine in its active state as another reason that the new solution is essential to Mac users.
“With 51 percent of American households using Apple products, we’ve been working toward providing our Windows PC market-leading solution to Apple Mac users, offering them the same level of complete protection for their digital lives at home and in the Acronis cloud,” said Nat Maple, senior vice president and general manager of Global Consumer Business at Acronis, in a statement. “With Acronis True Image for Mac, we’ve established Acronis as the de facto leading provider of full system-image backups with dual protection for Apple Mac users.”
Among the features included in Acronis True Image for Mac, users will be able to conduct full system image backup and recovery locally and remotely, with the option to choose specific files or folders when recovering their Mac image after a disaster. True Image for Mac also includes advanced Parallels Desktop support, recovery media creation and options for scheduling backups and encrypting their personal keys.
Individual users can customize the solution to their individual preferences, including the ability to detect Time Capsule as an optional storage destination and combine the benefits of both solutions, according to Acronis. True Image for Mac is currently available for $49.99, with the option of purchasing three Mac licenses for $79.99. The company is also offering cloud storage options through the Acronis Cloud for $2.99 per month for 50GB of storage.
