Alert Logic Gets New Channels VP From Pluribus Networks

The company also hired John Karnes as chief financial officer and John Carse as vice president of security operations.

Alert Logic's Bob LaytonAlert Logic, the cloud security provider, has hired Bob Layton – formerly of Pluribus Networks – as its new vice president of global channels.

The company also named John Karnes chief financial officer and John Carse vice president of security operations. The hires will be instrumental in helping to facilitate the company’s continued global growth, it said.

With Alert Logic, Layton will guide the channels that are responsible for the company’s growth in cloud, hosting, global systems integration, distribution and emerging business models in the traditional VAR area. He previously was Pluribus’ vice president of sales and channels for the Americas and Europe.{ad}

Alert Logic's John KarnesWith Pluribus, Layton established the Pluribus sales organization, which included creating channel programs for its software defined networking, analytics and data-center virtualization services. Prior to Pluribus, he was vice president of sales for Lumenate, a Cisco channel partner. He joined Lumenate after eight years at Cisco serving in a series of roles where he was increasingly responsible for sales and channel management.

Karnes has served as CFO for the past 16 years in four different organizations: Mariner Energy, KiOR, Houston Exploration and CyberCash. He spearheaded more than $15 billion of Wall Street capital markets and M&A transactions, including initial public offerings, private offerings and venture capital, and private equity.

Alert Logic's John Carse“John has held a variety of roles over his more than 30-year career in both public and private companies, and he will be critical in helping Alert Logic scale its operations and continue to grow our business,” said Gray Hall, Alert Logic’s CEO. “He’s a hands-on transactional leader with critical public company experience.”

Carse will be responsible for Alert Logic’s global security and compliance teams which provide monitoring for its more than 3,800 customers’ IT infrastructures. This includes Alert Logic ActiveWatch Services, Alert Logic LogReview Service, Alert Logic ActiveWatch Premier and all other security operations center (SOC) operations across two continents. He previously was JPMorgan Chase’s vice president of global cybersecurity engineering.
