AT&T today unveiled a Cloud Web Security solution that provides real-time protection against compromised websites, malware and viruses. Cloud Web Security is a hybrid cloud solution that enables businesses to deploy and manage their cloud services and web applications remotely.

Andy Daudelin, VP of Security Services at AT&T Business Solutions, pointed out that Cloud Web Security is part of his company’s commitment to improving its cloud solutions. In fact, Cloud Web Security may help businesses “do more with less,” he said in a statement.

“Six months ago, we told our customers we’d deliver better end-to-end protection, making major improvements to our network-based defense, cloud security, secure mobile business and threat management solutions,” Daudelin said. “Since then, we announced significant enhancements in each of these areas, but we’re not stopping here. The launch of this new on-demand cloud security solution is an important milestone in our commitment to deliver improved security, analytics and threat visibility to our customers.”

The following are Cloud Web Security’s features:

  • User-based subscription – Cloud Web Security customers only pay for what they need and do not need to buy, deploy and maintain on-site hardware or software.

  • Real-time malware protection – Cloud Web Security provides real-time analysis, malware scanning and shared threat intelligence from 75 million users to block suspicious and malicious web content.

  • Custom web application controls – Customers can set policies to manage application use based on user, group, applications, operations, postings and media transfer controls.

  • Policy management and reporting – Proxy and policy technologies allow administrators to enforce their policies for network access and use from a single interface.

AT&T, a Leader in the 2013 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Global Managed Security Solutions Providers (MSSPs), has made numerous investments in cloud solutions over the past year. AT&T partnered with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) last August to develop next-generation technology solutions for enterprise businesses, and the partnership could help AT&T develop and launch additional cloud solutions.

“This agreement gives companies a new path to innovation,” Andy Geisse, CEO of AT&T Business Solutions, said in a press release. “By harnessing AT&T’s global network and cloud infrastructure platform and CSC’s consulting and applications expertise, companies can now manage their operations better and create new ways of transforming the experience they deliver to their customers.”
