Avast Arms MSPs for a Security-First Future

Cybersecurity is a critical priority for small and midsize businesses (SMBs), and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Just last year, cybercrime cost the global economy more than $450 billion, and that number is expected to rise into the trillions within the next five years. More than half of all SMBs were victims of a cyberattack within the last 12 months. These attacks are so egregious that 60% of those targeted typically go out of business within six months of an atta

Unlike large enterprises, many SMBs lack the resources and skill sets to put a strong security defense in place. Many are turning to managed service providers (MSPs) for security support.

This creates opportunities for MSPs to be both technology providers and advisors to their clients, but they need the right tools to respond.

While most MSPs have the monitoring and management tools to identify availability and performance failures within their customer sites, most of these tools do not focus on SMB site security and do not enable an easy way to show their clients what and where the security risks are, the impact of unresolved security vulnerabilities, and how to prioritize next steps.

We responded with an integrated SMB site security assessment solution within AVG Managed Workplace at no extra cost. MSPs can now consolidate the site security assessment data into easy-to-read reports that show the security risks and provide an easier way to explain and prescribe solutions for security issues. Using these reports, MSPs can quickly recommend solutions, take actionable steps to remediate issues, and demonstrate how they are keeping businesses safe and secure, while growing their revenue through additional security services–all from their RMM.

The new security assessment is giving both MSPs and their clients peace of mind. Frode Iversen, Chairman of IOPS AS, a Norway-based MSP, says “The comprehensive reporting features have made it possible for us to have insights into the business and clearly demonstrate the value of our services to current and potential customers.”

Bob Ascheri, Director of Managed Services at Advanced Technology Solutions, agrees: “We see the increased number of attacks driving a renewed focus on security. Using the new Managed Workplace assessment feature, we can provide our clients a better understanding of the status of their Windows-based environments without having to run through multiple reports or modules.”

Managed Workplace 11 marks an important step forward in the battle against cybercrime, and gives MSPs a tool to add value, build their businesses and effectively strengthen client relationships. By simplifying security assessments with these easy-to-use tools, Managed Workplace 11 facilitates security conversations between MSPs and their customers, and helps them demonstrate how they are increasing security at their client sites.
