Cybersecurity company Carbon Black Wednesday rolled out the Carbon Black Integration Network (CbIN), a technology partner program designed to allow collaboration across the security stack using prebuilt integrations to triage, prioritize, remediate and contain risks more effectively and quickly.
The company also announced that both LogRhythm and Phantom now are part of CbIN, and have used its open APIs to build integration services with its Cb Predictive Security Cloud (PSC).
Carbon Black’s Jim Raine
Jim Raine, Carbon Black’s director of technology alliances, tells Channel Partners that security teams today are “plagued with problems ranging from a lack of technical expertise to limited visibility across the security stack to an increasing volume of security attacks.”
“We developed our technology partner program … to alleviate these challenges by providing a network of pre-integrated solutions of widely used and newly emerging tech solutions who use the API — that same API is available for customers to build their own integrations,” he said. “CbIN aims to improve cybersecurity through collective defense and [to] enable collaboration across the security stack.”
Legacy “pay-to-play” partner models were created to restrict access and resources to partners willing to purchase the ability to integrate, Raine said.
“Carbon Black takes a different approach through an open, community-based network of partners enabling anyone to participate,” he said. “We have partners that are still in stealth mode, quite small, and chose to make a Carbon Black integration a priority before they announce their solution publicly. We also have very large partners with $1 billion-plus in existing revenue that choose to integrate, ensuring their customers have the solutions they choose. Carbon Black believes in the value of a community approach to fighting cyberthreats.”
Carbon Black has consulted with both partners and customers throughout its product development and both play key roles in setting its direction, Raine said.
“We’ve created a common API layer across all our products called the CbAPI with the same common framework allowing partners to easily integrate with any of our products,” he said. “The work we’ve done to communicate the details of that API framework and the new extension of that framework to the PSC was based on this joint feedback.”
The new program allows partners to position solutions beyond what any one vendor can provide to “solve our customers’ biggest challenges,” Raine said.
“LogRhythm and Carbon Black are empowering security teams to identify behavioral anomalies, detect internal and external threats, and prioritize responses utilizing enterprise-class security analytics that leverage machine learning and advanced scenario modeling,” said Matt Winter, LogRhythm’s vice president of marketing and business development. “By integrating with … PSC, LogRhythm provides security teams with complete visibility across their cloud and physical IT environments for faster, more efficient threat detection and response.”
