Catbird Complements OpenStack With Security Policy Automation
Catbird is targeting OpenStack by providing security policy automation with Catbird 6.0.
Catbird is now targeting OpenStack implementations with the newest update of its cloud security and compliance solution.
The Scotts Valley, California-based security automation policy software-defined security and compliance solutions provider on Tuesday said Catbird 6.0 will provide security policy automation for OpenStack, a free and open-source software cloud computing platform.
The upgraded solution will also support security and compliance capabilities for VMware ESX. The company plans to eventually also provide support for Microsoft Hyper-V and other SDN frameworks.
Catbird is designed to provide IT with a way to manage secure and compliant virtual and private cloud infrastructures through several features, including auditing, inventory management, access control, configuration management, change management, incident responses and vulnerability management.
Catbird CEO Edmundo Costa said in a prepared statement that cloud environments will become more complex as private and hybrid cloud adoption increases.
“At the same time, carriers and service providers require secure and compliant private and hybrid cloud infrastructure,” he said. “Automated security policies that can be verified and enforced are quickly becoming a necessity across the board.”
A Catbird spokesperson told The VAR Guy that the company has not yet indicated an exact release date for version 6 of its platform for OpenStack, but expects the software to become available in Q4 2014.
This news follows a few months after Catbird’s appointment of Holland Barry as the company’s technology vice president.
Catbird’s Partner Program is open to system integrators (SIs) and value-added resellers (VARs) looking to leverage their security and virtualization expertise by selling and marketing Catbird’s solutions to end customers.
