Cofense has acquired Cyberfish, a phishing protection provider. The result is an email security solution for MSPs and MSSPs.

Cofense provides phishing detection and response (PDR) solutions. Cyberfish’s phishing protection is powered by computer vision and advanced machine learning (ML) technology.

By integrating ML capabilities from Cyberfish with Cofense’s detection and response technology, Cofense will bring to market an advanced automation solution for email protection, detection and response.

Cofense says it can help customers transition away from legacy email security providers like Proofpoint, Mimecast, Symantec and Cisco.

Cofense didn’t say how much it is shelling out for Cyberfish.

Bringing Enterprise-Grade Email Security to SMBs

“This acquisition furthers our commitment to the channel, brings enterprise-grade email security to the small-to-midmarket at a very appealing price point and opens new opportunities to deliver additional managed services,” he said.

Cyberfish complements 0ffice 365 and Google Cloud email services. It provides email protection at a fraction of the cost and overhead of legacy secure email gateway (SEG) vendors, Iannicello said.

“Cyberfish will have the ability to automatically simulate real phishing threats and provide education to users who fall susceptible,” he added.

Both Cofense and Cyberfish are focused on email security, but have not been competitors, Iannicello said. Cofense is based in Virginia and Cyberfish is in Israel.

Cofense has a network of 26 million people globally reporting suspected phishing, he said. Combining with Cyberfish’s technology creates a “unique” solution that stops phishing attacks quickly and accurately.

More Email Solutions

“Cyberfish partners will now benefit from additional email security solutions they can offer their customers, as well as the global resources and reach of the Cofense team,” Iannicello said.

Dima Kagan is Cyberfish’s CEO and co-founder.

“As we met with the team, it quickly became obvious that we share the same vision for how to revolutionize the email security market, which includes addressing the business requirements of MSPs and enterprises offering advanced email protection beyond Microsoft and Google,” he said. “We look forward to working together to bring that vision to reality through advanced AI and automation capabilities.”
