Dell announced the availability of its latest Identity and Access Management solution on Tuesday, which is the first offering in the company’s portfolio to be available through the channel at launch. It is also the first product launch in a string of as-of-yet unnamed offerings planned for announcement in Dell’s connected security portfolio.
The solution, called Dell One Identity Safeguard for Privileged Passwords, is being aimed specifically at SMB customers who need an easy to manage means of installing and administering secure-sign on capabilities for their employees. While this type of solution isn’t uncommon among enterprise and SMB customers, Dell is seeking to differentiate itself by simplifying the setup process to protect organizations during both installation and throughout its operation, according to the announcement.
Dell One Identity Safeguard for Privileged Passwords is also the first of Dell Security’s products to feature an interface specifically designed to eliminate the chance for user error during setup. Installation and administration is funneled through a “pre-hardened appliance that provides locked-down support” which will eventually serve as the basic console for all of Dell’s privileged management solutions, the company said.
“The new Dell One Identity Safeguard for Privileged Passwords gives businesses the security they need to better manage critical privileged accounts, while still giving administrators a simple way to gain access to them,” said Patrick Sweeney, vice president of Product Management and Marketing at Dell Security, in a statement. “Managing privileged passwords doesn’t have to be a challenging process for organizations, and giving our global channel partners a solution that simplifies the management of highly sensitive privileged passwords complements the strong set of security solutions they already can offer.”
Straight from the press release, several of the features being tauted in Dell One Identity Safeguard for Privileged Passwords include:
Automated and secure access to administrative credentials.
Simplified installation and administration for managing privileged accounts through a new interface.
Self-protection features at various layers designed to protect users from attacks during installation and management.
Dell One Identity Safeguard for Privileged Passwords is available now through the company’s North American and EMEA-based Dell Security partners, but the offer is only available directly through Dell in Asia Pacific. The VAR Guy has reached out to Dell in regard to whether or not the solution will be available through partners in APAC at a later time.
UPDATE: A Dell spokesperson confirmed that the company’s Identity Safeguard for Privileged Passwords solution will be available through partners in APAC later this year.
