Security intelligence solution provider FireMon has appointed former FishNet Security executives Brandy Peterson and John Van Blaricum to its executive team. Peterson will assume the role of chief technology officer, with Van Blaricum stepping in as vice president of Marketing. Both men began their new positions in February.
Peterson will use his experience in the industry to expand the company’s Solutions Architecture Group, which helps customers adopt emerging technology such as software-defined networking, according to the announcement. He also will lead the advancement and diversification of FireMon’s technology alliance partnerships and foster product integration between FireMon’s portfolio and other solution providers.
Peterson spent 16 years at FishNet Security, where he served as chief technology officer, responsible for overseeing the company’s software and hardware strategy as well as working with customers and technology developers to foster adoption of security systems, according to the press release.
“Today’s organizations are still struggling with the deployment and operation of many critical network security technologies, largely related to issues of process, which creates a vicious cycle driven by complexity and change,” said Peterson, in a statement. “FireMon is leading the market in addressing many of these challenges and my focus is to ensure that we remain in that position, better engaging with customers via technological innovation and expansion of our strategic alliances.”
Van Blaricum also brings more than 20 years of enterprise software marketing experience to his new role, and previously served as vice president of Marketing at FishNet Security. He will be responsible for increasing FireMon’s brand awareness, driving solutions demand and developing new business opportunities.
“The extensive knowledge and experience that comes with the addition of Brandy and John to the FireMon executive team further positions the company to build and deliver industry leading security solutions to the growing market we serve,” said Jody Brazil, CEO of FireMon. “Both of these leaders have proven track records in creating and delivering upon a highly differentiated strategic vision, and their combined experience will prove invaluable to FireMon’s growth in the coming years.”
Earlier this week, FireMon announced it had acquired security event analysis provider Immediate Insight for an undisclosed sum, as it looks to build the industry’s first dedicated solution that combines network security intelligence with real-time event analysis.
