Integra on Tuesday introduced a new cloud security service that monitors network traffic to detect and mitigate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) threats, in which malicious actors use massive volumes of network traffic to overwhelm the resources of a targeted network or site domain.
Using technologies from Arbor Networks, Integra’s DDoS Mitigation Service offers customers managed, off-premise protection. It combines a remote, cloud-based approach to detecting attacks with hands-on, 24/7/365 management from Integra’s network security experts to minimize attacks as they begin, while still allowing valid network traffic in the midst of an attack.
The service is an alternative to network firewalls, which the company said are no longer sufficient protection against DDoS attacks, in part because they aren’t able to distinguish between malicious network sessions and those that are spoofed to appear legitimate.
DDoS Mitigation Service joins Cloud Firewall Service as part of Integra’s managed and hosted security services. Customer can purchase the service as a monthly subscription.
