The bring-your-own-device trend may be cursed by some in IT, but others have been enjoying the opportunity brought by solving some of the issues that BYOD has created. Case in point is ForeScout Technologies, the real-time network security solution vendor which experienced big growth for its network access control technology in 2012. Here’s a closer look.ForeScout credits BYOD as a big driver for the 66 percent growth it saw in bookings last year, notåing that Gartner has attributed NAC adoption growth to BYOD.
And NAC vendor is looking forward to a bright year ahead as well, citing Gartner’s forecast for 2013 which predicts market growth of about 63 percent for mobile device management and network access control as the primary means for enabling personally-owned smartphones and tablets while also containing risks.
“We continue to see substantial global demand for tools that provide real-time visibility and automated control given that IT must embrace greater device, application, user and access diversity,” said Gord Boyce, CEO of ForeScout, in a prepared statement.
ForeScout was recognized as a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Network Access Control in 2012.
One of the company’s recent initiatives has been to create integration partnerships with mobile device management vendors. The company has already struck such a deal with Fiberlink and it says more are coming.
