McAfee Launches Web Security in the Cloud

McAfee Inc. (MFE) has announced availability of McAfee Web Protection Service – a SaaS Web security solution providing protection from malware and other Web-borne threats without any on-premise requirements.

The new cloud-based service is based on McAfee’s McAfee Web Gateway technology (formerly known as Webwasher) and addresses Internet usage issues surrounding security, organizational compliance and policy control.

The service includes reputation-based filtering, anti-malware protection, remote offices and user support, transparent user authentication, flexible policy manager, and informative reports and dashboards.

McAfee said users of the Web Protection Service will benefit from reduced upfront costs as well as lower, predictable subscription expenses. Organizations with numerous locations or limited IT resources can quickly benefit from redirecting Web traffic to a McAfee data center and allowing McAfee Web Protection Service to enable instantly available Web protection.
