EMC's security division RSA announced the latest version of its Web Threat Detection software, designed to help enterprises detect and prevent cyberattacks in real time. With the new version, companies managing consumer-facing websites can identify online threats as they occur to stamp out potential risks before they cause major financial damage.
According to RSA, Web Threat Detection has been engineered to provide enhanced data visibility and analytics to security and fraud teams so they can visualize and analyze the millions of user web sessions in play at any given time. With increased visibility into consumer activity, administrators can utilize streaming web session transactions and analytics to enable integration with Big Data initiatives for improved cross-examination of where online threats originate. The combination of real-time analytics and legacy data is expected to give organizations more insight into the process behind malicious threats and allowing for better preventative measures.
“With the proliferation of threats focused on the web portal and mobile channels, organizations need end-to-end visibility into what is occurring to protect their customers and brand. RSA Web Threat Detection is engineered to provide this visibility by analyzing click stream data during web and mobile web sessions, translating it into actionable intelligence to help organizations distinguish between legitimate and disruptive use,” said Grant Geyer, vice president of RSA Security Analytics, in a statement. “By providing a complete look into online behavior before, during and after authentication, organizations can detect anomalies to effectively mitigate fraud, business logic abuse and other malicious activity in real time while also strengthening their overall security operations.”
While malicious attacks from the web are nothing new, what has changed is the frequency with which attacks have developed on mobile devices. The latest version of Web Threat Detection software includes new capabilities to provide better visibility into mobile transactions, which allows organizations to create specific rules and policies to identify and eliminate mobile threats, according to RSA. This includes the ability to correlate user activity across both mobile and traditional web channels in real time for more visibility into the exact direction and location of attack.
With the new release, RSA is also promising users an improved interface to reduce overall incident investigation time and time to value for administrators. Real-time risk indicators, threat scores and additional historical session data will be prioritized on the dashboard as well, providing a more visual idea of current web protection for easier monitoring.
RSA Web Threat Detection will be generally available in Q3 2014, although an exact launch date was not provided.
