Who are the fiercest up and coming managed security services providers (MSSP)? That's just the question that research firm Forrester (NASDAQ: FORR) sought to answer with its most recent Forrester Wave report: Emerging Managed Security Service Providers, Q1, 2013. Here's a look at who made the cut and why.But first, a quick look at what's different about these Q1 emerging MSSPs. According to the report they have less revenue, fewer staff, and smaller physical plants than the nine North American MSSP firms singled out in the last Forrester Wave edition.
Forrester rated the candidates according to 15 criteria and grouped them into three categories: current offerings, strategy, and market presence. The report uses the firm's criteria to evaluate each service provider and plots where they stand in relation to each other. The following MSSPs were identified as the leaders:
Alert Logic offers a SaaS-based IT monitoring platform that is currently in growth mode.
Perimeter E-Security delivers enterprise protection and compliance for businesses of any size.
Integralis specializes in IT security and risk management solutions.
The following were identified as strong performers:
StillSecure offers networking security software, web security services, and network management security.
Savvis, a CenturyLink company, is a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises.
Network Box protects over 1,600 organizations and government offices around the world.
The following were listed as contenders:
Vigilant provides managed security monitoring services and threat intelligence services
Tata Communications leverages its solutions across its global and pan-India network to deliver managed solutions to multi-national enterprises, service providers, and Indian consumers.
Secure Designs provides total Internet security solutions for smaller and midsize organizations
CompuCom provides a strategy that blends your data center, network, voice, and end user computing environments.
According to Forrester, each of the companies listed is growing at a rate of 30 to 40 percent per year and has great technical depth and flexibility. Do you think Forrester missed a deserving MSSP?
