V.i. Labs has built its business around helping ISVs get insight into how their software is getting used — and misused. With this week’s launch of CodeArmor Intelligence 3.0, V.i. Labs takes that concept and gives it greater scalability and deeper detection. And they’re integrating it with the Salesforce Force.com platform. Here are the details.
The VAR Guy has spoken about V.i. Labs and the CodeArmor product line here and here, but the general idea is that they provide undetectable code that reports back when someone’s running your software in ways that are outside of what might be considered “legal.”
New to version 3.0 of CodeArmor Intelligence, though, is the ability to aggregate unique infringing machines and users, helping prioritize the developer’s next action, according to the press release. And if your software’s being widely misused, CodeArmor Intelligence can now collect and sort hundreds of infringement reports per day, helping quantify lost revenue.
Those are the headlining new features, but 3.0 also includes a web-based configuration interface, support for Visual Studio 2010 environments, and detection for piracy in virtual machines.
Finally, V.i. Labs also announced integration with Salesforce.com such that ISVs can integrate piracy, trial download, and usage data into Salesforce instances, allowing for informational sharing across enterprise departments and speed up the revenue recovery cycle.
