Colocation services provider ViaWest has introduced a cloud that the company says is specifically built for the heavily regulated health-care and life science industries.

The new KINECTed Health Cloud compliments ViaWest’s full suite of cloud solutions that include public, private, hybrid and managed environments. The Denver-based company says its newest cloud offering provides an audit-ready compliance-as-a-service (CaaS) solution to meet the IT and compliance needs for businesses that handle electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI).

The Ponemon Institute recently found that 94 percent of health-care businesses have had at least one data breach in the past two years. Determining the cause of such breaches and the steps to address potential vulnerabilities are key areas of concern for IT organizations. Without physical security, secure infrastructure, power and HVAC redundancies and advanced IT engineering expertise, companies run the risk of non-compliance.

The health-care environment has become much more complex,” said Jason Carolan, chief technology officer at ViaWest. ViaWest has developed its KINECTed Health Cloud to specifically address HIPAA and HHS compliance requirements. In an effort to relieve the pressure for companies facing potential fines and compliance breaches, ViaWest can now immediately help companies to determine their organizations risk, enforce further data privacy actions and establish security enforcement strategies that will help them meet their compliance goals.”

In partnership with Abnology, an IT services and integrated solutions provider, ViaWest says KINECTed Health Cloud leverages virtualization and security technologies with a platform that is designed to provide highly secure, partitioned environments that optimize data protection for customer compliant workloads.
