Data security vendor Vormetric has partnered with Rackspace (RAX) to provide its encryption and key management solutions to customers of Rackspace's cloud offerings. Through the agreement, Rackspace has become a member of the Vormetric Cloud Partner program, and it will offer Vormetric's Transparent Encryption offering.
The encryption solution was designed to combine the performance, flexibility, simplicity and scalability required to protect data-at-rest within Rackspace's managed cloud environments. The companies noted in a statement that it provides Rackspace customers with the ability to address their compliance requirements and protect their sensitive information stored in the cloud.
"Given that security is the number one concern of enterprises looking to embrace cloud and hosting solutions, Vormetric gives Rackspace's customers ability to use Vormetric’s Transparent Encryption solution within Rackspace environments," said C.J. Radford, vice president of cloud at Vormetric, in a prepared statement. "By using Vormetric Transparent Encryption, Rackspace customers can seamlessly protect data with encryption and access controls, keep control of encryption keys within the enterprise, and gather the security intelligence that can identify when an attack is in progress."
Vormetric also hopes to solve another problem organizations have with using encryption—specifically, that of performance. According to Vormetric, encryption performance is a top concern among organizations, but the vendor promises high-speed, hardware-based encryption using Intel AES-NI and Secure Key technologies.
