Wedge Networks, a provider of industrial-strength network security solutions, has announced the release of the BeSecure NDP-2040NX, a multigigabit network security appliance to provide an inline antivirus, antispam and antimalware platform for heterogeneous networks.

The NDP-2040NX allows medium-to-large enterprise and service providers to deploy a cost-effective, high-performance network antimalware system.

The NDP-2040NX can satisfy throughput requirements with a single, 2U box, providing multigigabit throughput. It offers e-mail and FTP scanning, http scanning, and can scan into nested, zipped files in transit to provide coverage with few false-positives, said the company.

The NDP-2040NX features two Intel Woodcrest dual-core CPUs and up to 32GB of high-speed memory. When deployed with Wedge Networks BeSecure engine, the 2040NX is able to protect multigigabit-per-second networks with a message handling capacity of millions-per-hour. Installed as an inline device at the network edge of a data center, the NDP-2040NX provides antispam, antivirus and antimalware content inspection. Furthermore, no application-level modifications are necessary, the company said.
