Virtualized disaster recovery solutions provider Zerto announced the release of Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5, the company’s latest addition to its data protection portfolio. The business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) solution now allows users to back up their information offsite.
Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5 runs completely on the user’s established corporate hypervisor and allows cloud service providers (CSPs) and enterprises to protect their data at the target site and through continuous replication.
“A comprehensive DR and backup solution is particularly valuable to companies who have long-term retention requirements because it eliminates the need to purchase a separate backup product,” said Gil Levonai, vice president of Products and Marketing at Zerto, in a prepared statement. “Furthermore, Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5 can be used with any cloud—private, public or hybrid—allowing organizations to choose the IT environment that best suits their needs and without disturbing existing production environments.”
According to Zerto, the DR solution backs up data offsite in a new model of data protection built on hypervisor-based replication, which combines traditional replication with continuous data protection and long-term retention at the target site. Backup from the system occurs from replicas on the target site, reducing any potential negative impact on applications. Zerto has streamlined the management of v3.5 with configurable backups as well, allowing users to choose between daily, weekly and monthly options.
Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5 is currently available to the general public as of this week’s announcement. Previously, the solution had been in private beta exclusively for existing Zerto customers.
