Pride Month 2023: Best Places to Work in Tech
These companies are designated as 2022 “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.”
We’re rounding out the first full week of Pride Month 2023. Here at Channel Futures, expressing our year-round support for the LGBTQ+ community is a natural extension of our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I).
It’s in our corporate DNA. Channel Futures is part of Informa Tech, which means that diversity and inclusion are part of everything we do. The global AllInforma Rainbow network connects, educates and supports members, allies and colleagues of the LGBTQIA+ community who want to learn more. The network conducts workshops and master classes, shares reading and watching recommendations, organizes Informa’s participation in Pride, partner with charities and support inclusion throughout the company.
And our ongoing commitment to DE&I is not an anomaly in the tech world. Far from it. Yes, Big Tech failed for the most part to meet the lofty inclusion goals they announced with great fanfare a few years back. And they were roundly criticized for it. But tech is a longstanding bastion of straight white male dominance, and that can’t be changed overnight. The mountain must be taken down one shovelful at a time.
Best Place to Work
But in the interest of being as quick to praise as we are to criticize, it should be noted that the list of nearly 850 businesses designated as 2022 “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality” included a number of tech companies.
The “Best Place to Work” designation is awarded by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Their Corporate Equality Index is considered the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to LGBTQ+ employees. To receive the designation, employers must meet all the criteria on the index to earn a 100% rating. They do this by taking concrete steps to establish and implement comprehensive policies, benefits and practices that ensure greater equity for LGBTQ+ employees and their families.
