We’ve reached the midway part of the year, and some themes still ring true in our monthly top 20 stories countdown.

The first is layoffs. While job cuts in tech have slowed considerably from the first quarter, articles about two more layoff announcements in June landed in our top 20.

The other is less a trend or theme than a single topic. This story from October 2022 about the formation of the Cloud Software Group is among our top 20 stories for the ninth – no mistake – ninth consecutive month.

Another regular on our list is Avaya. This story about its emergency from bankruptcy is here for the second month in a row. And just about anytime we publish an update on Broadcom’s pursuit of VMware, it gets eyeballs.

But it isn’t all old “news” on this edition of the top 20 stories countdown. As expected, the annual Channel Futures MSP 501 rankings had a big showing in June.

We also heard about a possible IPO for Rubrik and a class-action lawsuit stemming from a data breach. And these days, an unveiling of top tech stories wouldn’t exist without some mention of AI.

Our slideshow above takes you through our top 20 stories for June David Letterman-style, beginning with No. 20 and ending with No. 1. We determine the rankings by combining online pageviews with results from our daily and weekly newsletters. This is where you can sign up for those.

If you missed our top 20 stories from May, you can see that countdown here.
