The latest MSP M&A involves two Texas-based companies that are active members of Ingram Micro’s Trust X Alliance.
Houston-based Computex Technology Solutions is acquiring Dallas-based Synetra. The deal marks the fourth acquisition by Computex since 2012, and the first under the leadership of its president and CEO John Schilsky.
Schilsky tells Channel Partners that with 60 years of combined experience in IT, Computex and Synetra have formed a “managed-services powerhouse.”

“Both the Computex and Synetra leadership teams have maintained a friendly relationship for decades,” he said. “The cultural synergies and shared vision of providing unparalleled customer service to clients made the acquisition a good business decision. Both companies’ offerings complement one another and each company brings something to the table that the other can leverage to increase business and better support customers. ”
Both Computex and Synetra are Cisco partners and this acquisition strengthens Computex’s partnership with Cisco, Schilsky said.
“Computex brings a broader range of technology solutions to Synetra’s clients including data center, enterprise networking, cloud and cybersecurity,” he said. “This means our key strategic partners will benefit from the ability to go deeper and wider into the west Texas market. ”
The geographic expansion allows Computex to better serve its current oil and gas customers, as well as expand its focus into the state, local and education (SLED) business, Schilsky said. Computex also can leverage Synetra’s structured cabling business, he said.
“From a strategic perspective, Computex will continue to invest in the talent, technology and tools required to exceed our customers’ expectations and grow our business by double-digits year over year,” he said.
Under the terms of the agreement, Synetra’s associates and executive leadership team join Computex.
“We’ve maintained a friendly relationship with Computex’s leadership team for decades and are excited to combine our efforts and expand our services under the Computex brand,” said Paul Sorensen, Synetra’s president. “Today’s business owners need IT expertise and execution they can count on to keep their company secure and operating at peak performance. By joining Computex, we are elevating our expertise, expanding our service offerings and providing our customers the best of the best when it comes to IT services excellence.”
