Rumor Has It: HP/Palm's PalmPad Set to Debut CES 2011

A technology rumor is coming from an unlikely source: Fox News. The claim? The HP “PalmPad” is set to debut at CES 2011. What can we expect from the hybrid love child of HP and Palm? Read on and find out…

According to spec sheets from a “trusted source,” FoxNews.com has reported the device will feature a number of bells and whistles including:

The devices is set to actually be in the hands of consumers by March 2011, Fox News reported.

Personally, I think webOS does a much better job of visualizing multi-tasking than the iPad. It will be great to see the sexy interface upscaled. On phones, the “deck of cards” analogy was used for how webOS handles multiple apps and how the user shuffles and moves through them. With the larger screens, will that analogy be upgraded to something like “sheets” or “index cards”? We’ll have to see, but with all the buzz around tablets, I’d expect HP and Palm to pull out all the stops, especially with the all the potential contenders showing up at CES 2011.

Where do you think HP and Palm will positing this tablet for use in? Business or play? Both? A particular vertical, perhaps? I’m betting on the education market, seeing that 8 inches seems the perfect size to fit alongside a notebook or textbook in a college student’s bag.
