Wholesaler 360networks announced today that it has been selected by Suburban Broadband LLC of Castle Rock, Colo., to support its residential and business VoIP service offerings. The deal is one of about 15 360 networks has made with ITSPs, ISPs and cablecos since launching its VoIP360 product last fall.

360networks is using its regional fiber plant spanning more than 16,000 miles with PoPs in more than 40 markets to deliver wholesale VoIP services in 530 rate centers in the United States. The company expects to cover more than 1,200 rate centers by the end of the year.

360networks’ VoIP360 provides Suburban Broadband access to inbound and outbound local calling, directory listings, local number portability, operator services, caller name services and directory assistance.

360networks can provide services on a telephone-number basis or on a concurrent call basis.

Significantly, VoIP360 enables Suburban to connect to 360networks in just one rate center to provide services throughout 360networks footprint, said Rick Coma, 360networks senior vice president.

“360networks’ local SIP origination and termination services allow us to enter additional markets and rate centers without the need for local PRI circuits, said Damon Estep, CEO of Suburban Broadband, explaining, this, in turn, facilitates the companys expansion into rate centers where it has fixed wireless broadband subscribers but previously has been unable to justify delivering VoIP services due to the high cost of the PRIs. “The relationship with 360networks has allowed us to extend our combined Broadband and VoIP service offering to nearly 100 percent of our installed fixed wireless broadband customer base”

With a single IP connection and feature server, customers can access 360networks VoIP platform and its menu of services that can be used as building blocks to create VoIP services. Connections to 360networks VoIP platform can be direct or over the Internet. Coma said this gives companies the ability to speed time to market by not requiring a physical connection to the network but also allowing them to move to a direct connect when and if they choose to provide QoS and support SLAs, Coma said.

Suburban connects via the public internet to 360networks PoP in Denver.
